Dr. Raghavendra Kune (called as Dr. Raghav) is Scientist ‘SG’, Head High Performance Computing and Drones (HPCDS) at ADVANCED DATA PROCESSING RESEARCH INSTITUTUE (ADRIN), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space, located at Hyderabad. He is associated with High Performance Computing and smart sensing division of ADRIN and holds a total of 20 years of experience with ISRO. His major areas include - HPC algorithms development for satellite payloads and UAV systems using GPU/Cloud/Distributed computing infrastructures, IOT based Navigation smart sensing systems development using indigenous navigation systems like GAGAN and IRNSS(NAVIC), Machine and Deep Learning systems development for image, video analytics and speech recognition to run on cloud and edge computing devices etc.
He holds publications in national, international conferences and journals, in the area of HPC, Cloud and Big Data technologies and secure communication systems developments in scientific computing. Dr.Raghav delivered lectures in conferences, universities and engineering colleges on the topics of emerging trends of computing and programming methodologies. Dr.Raghav received Ph.D in Computer Science from University of Hyderabad in the area of Cloud and Big Data for scientific computing platforms in earth observation systems. He is a member of Board of Studies (BOS)and guest/adjunct faculty for engineering institutions in department of Computer Science and Information Technology (IT). He has guided several BTech and MTech students’ projects, and guiding Ph.D students at Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Trivandrum for research on Quantum computing for cryptography and Big Data Analytics for satellite systems. He is the member of several bodies like ASI (Astronomical Society of India), Computer Society of India (CSI), Associate member of Andhra Pradesh Academi of Sciences (APAS), member of Indian National Cartography Association (INCA). He has received awards for his contributions in the space technologies, which include Team Member Award for the development of Digital Intelligent Image Production and Management System, and the recipient of ISRO Young Scientist Award for his contributions in the computing technologies for Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Data Exploitations.
